07.29.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 11am, solo. Tide was dropping to a 2.1' at 12:30pm. Conditions were relatively clean, with slight winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 4.1' from 288° at 8 seconds. Their was a decent crowd out when I paddled out. I surfed between south peak and middles. Waves were waist to shoulder high plus. Water was quite warm. I wore my trunks and long sleave surf shirt. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

07.19.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 5:45am, solo. Tide was in between a -0.62' low at 4:19am and a 4.1' high at 10:34am. Conditions were crossed up, with sse winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.5' from 275° at 4-6s. Surf was really not that good today the peaks were all crossed up, and it was pretty hard to find a decent one that was more than just a bottom turn. Waves were waist high +. Water was comfortable in my spring suit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

07.14.2012 - Oceanside Harbor

Paddled out at 6:10am, solo. Tide was pushing to a 3.2' high at 8:17am. Conditions were somewhat glassy with some chop and crossed up, with slight onshore winds. Oceanside Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.2' from 180° at 10-12s. Waves were bigger in Oceanside than down south. It was bordering on closing out, but still some fun ones to be had. Waves were chest high. Water was warm in my ss fullsuit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

07.13.2012 - Del Mar - 29th St.

Swam out at 6:30pm, solo, with my handplane and swim fins. Tide was a 5.05' high at 6:04pm. Conditions were glassy, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.5' from 184° at 10-12s. San Elijo Nearshor Bouy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.3' from 282° at 4-6s. This evening was a potluck dinner at 29th St. Del Mar with some scholl friends. Surf was cleaner, and bigger, than expected. Waves were waist high +. Water was nice in trunks and surf shirt. Board ridden: 1st gen hand plane.

07.12.12 - Blacks

Paddled out at 5:45am, solo. Tide was a 2.82' high at 5:52 am. Conditions were glassy, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.8' from 272° The predominant swell was 2.1' @ 13s from 185° (but that is too step of a south swell for most of San Diego). Surf was small, and Blacks was not really picking up any of the 180° south swell. There were some occassional fun ones to grab. Waves were waist high. Water was warm atain in my ss fullsuit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer fish.

07.10.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:00 solo. Tide was dropping to a 1.38' low at 8:38am. Conditions were foggy, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.3' from 282°. Conditions were pretty crossed up with the NW wind swell and the remnants of the SW ground swell. Waves were chest high +. Water was FREEZING due to some recent upwelling. It was in the mid to upper 50's. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer fish.

07.07.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:05 AM, solo, but saw Chris M. and Joel S. later in the session. Tide was a -0.4 at 6:33 AM. Conditions were glassy, with periodic onshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.7' from 194°. The predominant swells were 2.7' at 17s from 213°. When the sets came through, the waves were really fun. It was pretty crowded and inconsistent though, so that is what gives the "fair" part of my rating. Waves were chest high with occasional pluses rolling through. Water was comfortable in my ss fullsuit, but there were a few cold spots. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

07.06.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:30 AM, with Chris M.. Tide was a -0.91 low at 6:33 AM. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.5' from 215°. The two long period south and southwest swells were starting to show up. It was very inconsistent, but when the sets came through it was quite fun. Pretty decent sized crowd today. Waves were waist to chest high with occassional plus sets coming through. Water was nice in my ss full. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer.

07.04.2012 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:15 AM, with Chris M. Tide was slowly filling in from a -1.48' low at 4:33 AM. Conditions were pretty sloppy due to the really low tide, with slight south west winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.6' from 258°. When we showed up, south peak wasn't breaking at all, middles had a few waves, and most of the waves were breaking at north peak. Almost everyone was at north peak, so Chris and I chose to paddle out at middles. Waves were waist high. Water was warm in my ss fullsuit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer.

Paddled out at 6:45 AM. Surfed solo today. Tide was pushing to a 4.17' high at 10:07 AM. Conditions were mostly glassy, with periodic south eddy winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.3' from 286°. It was relatviely clean, and uncrowded. Waves were waist to chest plus. Water was warm in my ss full. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer.

07.01.2112 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:55 AM with Joel S.. Tide was pushing to a 3.74' high at 8:35 AM. Conditions were realatively clean, with slight south winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.9' from 281°. Today was a little bigger than yesterday. The predominant swell direction was the long period south swell. Waves were chest high +. Water was toasty in SS Full. Board ridden: 5'8" Xanadu Pig2.
