12.29.13 - Boneyards

Paddled out at 11:30 am, with Bryan C.. Tide was dropping to a -0.8’ low at 1:16 pm. Conditions were a little bumpy, with slight onshore winds winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.6' from 277° at 17s. In general the waves were pretty soft and inconsistent. We both caught a few fun ones towards the end of our session. Waves were waist high with occasional pluses. Water was warm in my 3/2 full. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

12.27.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:15 am, solo. Tide was coming off of a 5.5’ high at 4:34 am. Conditions were clean, with slight off shore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.5' from 268° at 19.1s. Small, inconsistent day, but still fun waves to be had. Waves were waist high plus. Water was a little chilly in my 3/2 full suit. Board ridden: 5’10” KG Twinzer Fish.

12.24.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:05 am, solo. Tide was dropping to a 2.6’ low at 7:57 am. Conditions were clean, with offshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.8' from 275° at 14.3s. Pretty decent session. Inconsistent with some close outs, but there were some corners to pick off. Waves were chest to head high plus. Water was comfy in my 4/3 plus hood. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

12.23.13 - Blacks (Lunch session)

Paddled out at 11:40 am, solo. Tide was pushing to a 4.3’ high at 11:45 PM. Conditions were relatively glassy, with slight onshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.3' from 278° at 15.7s. Quick lunchtime session. Some clean waves coming through, but pretty inconsistent. Waves were chest to head high. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 full. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

 

12.21.13 - Blacks (Winter Solstice)

Paddled out at 6:20 am, solo. Tide was coming up from a 2.5’ low at 4:36 am. Conditions were groomed, with 5 knot offshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.5' from 269° at 12.1s. Fun day today! Head high peaks, with some fun corners to pick of. Waves were Head high. Water was a little chilly in my 3/2 full, but mostly due to the offshore winds. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

12.17.13 - Blacks #2

Paddled out at 11:40 am, with Derrik M.. Tide was dropping to a -0.7’ low at 3:29 PM. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.3' from 250° at 14.6s. Although the conditions were clean, due to the low tide, and swell direction, it was much harder to find good corners in the 45 minutes I had.. Waves were Head high wth plusses. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 full. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig2.

12.17.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:15 am, with Joel S.. Tide was pushing to a 6.4’ high at 8:23 AM. Conditions were clean, with slight off-shore winds winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.9' from 267° at 14.7s. Clean, good, day at blacks!!. Waves were Head high with plus sets. Water was 60°. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

11.29.13 - Beacons

Paddled out at 6:50 am, solo. Tide was coming off of a 6.0’ high at 5:20 am. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Oceanside Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 4.0' from 261° at 12s. Fun session at North Reef today. It has been a while since I surfed there, but it all came back on my first wave. Caught a lot of good waves. Some were a little backed off due to the tide. In general it was a good time. Waves were head high with some nice overhead sets rolling through.. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 full suit. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

11.28.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:10 am, with Joel S.. Tide was coming off of a 5.5’ high at 5:56 am. Conditions were clean, with slight offshore winds. Oceanside Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 1.7' from 201° at 13s. Surf was a little soft, but relatively fun. There were occassional precursers of the predecited swell.. Waves were waist high with occassional chest high sets. Water was warm in my 3/2 full suit. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

Note: Torrey Pines Outer Buoy has been offline for over two weeks... I will switch back to that buoy as soon as possible.

11.12.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 5:45, with Chris M. and Joel S.. Tide was coming off of a 5.7' high at 5:21 am. Conditions were glassy, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 1.9' from 277° at 6 s. Small glassy session, with minimal crowd. Waves were waist high at best. Water was cool in my 3/2 full. Board ridden: 5'11" Xanadu Pig 2.

10.31.13 - Blacks (first ride on new Xanadu)

Paddled out at 6:40 am, Chris M.. Tide was pushing to a 5.9’ high at 7:37 am. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 2.5' from 231° at 16s. Waves were a little soft in general, but I still managed to get a couple of decent lefts and rights on my new board.. Waves were waist high. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 full.. Board ridden: 5’11” Xanadu Pig 2.

10.26.13 - Blacks

Paddled out at 6:35 am, solo. Tide was dropping off a 3.9’ high at 5:14 am. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.1' from 275° at 12s. Caught a few fun corners just south of middles before the NSSA contest was starting. Then I head down towards the road - there were some good lefts coming through, but a bit crowded.. Waves were chest high plus. Water was a little chilly in my short sleeve full. Board ridden: KG Twinzer fish.

Paddled out at 2:00 pm with Joel S. Pretty strong nw winds, but still managed to get three fun left hand corners.

Paddled out for session two at 8:45 am with Ed E.  Much better session this time, calling it my redemption session. Caught a lot more waves, pulled into some close out barrels, and made a few big drops. Clean conditions still.

Paddled out at 6:15am with Joel S. and Chris M.  Glassy dawn patrol. Some fun ones coming through, but I had a hard time finding the right ones. Headed in to help make breakfast for the adventure guides camp out.

Paddled out at 6:15, solo. Tide was pushing to a 6.4' high at 9:41 am. Conditions were clean, with offshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.3' from 199° at 15s. Pretty fun session today. Nice combo conditions. A little inconsistent, and was getting crowded. Waves were chest high plus with occasional overhead set. Water was really warm in my short sleeve full. Board ridden: 6'3" Wayne Lynch.

Paddled out at 6:30 am, with Chris M.. Tide was pushing to a 5.5' high at 8:41 am. Conditions were glassy, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.7' from 264° at 12s. It was pretty fun at the north river mouth today. Most waves were closed out, but still a few fun corners to be had. Waves were chest high with occasional plus. Water was warm in my short sleeve full. Board ridden: 6'0" MR Twin.
