01.07.17 - Boneyards

Delayed post 7 of 8:

Paddled out around 10:30, because I was waiting for the tide to drop. I ended up meeting Larry out in the lineup. Caught some fun waves, and I was happy that I didn't have to swim for my long board, as I surfed leash less that day.

12.27.16 - Boneyards

Delayed report 3 of 8:

Paddled out about 45 minutes before sunset. Had a pretty fun session on my fish. Had the middle peak basically to myself. Nice to have a two session day.

Paddled out at 9:30 am, solo. Tide was just starting to push from a 0.1’ low at 9:00 am. Conditions were clean, with slight south winds winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.4' from 195° at 15.4s. First session on the new (to me) longboard. Caught a few fun ones, but will take some time to figure out the new board. Waves were waist high. Water was comfortable in my short sleeve full suit. Board ridden: 9’6” Wegemen longboard.

4.7.13 - Boneyards

Paddled out at 6:15, solo at first, then met up with Joel S and Chris M. Tide was pushing to a 5.3' high at 8:05 am. Conditions were crossed up, with slight south winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 5.6' from 285° at 7s. Surf was pretty random with the two ground swells and wind swell. Peaks were shifting all over the place, and a lot of waves were just a drop. Waves were 3-5'. Water was chilly, wore 4/3 and booties. Board ridden: 5'11" Xanadu Pig 2.

3.24.13 - Boneyards

Paddled out at 6:15 am, solo. Tide was pushing to a 5.3' high at 8:00 am. Conditions were glassy, with slight north winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of data. I started out at swamis but it was only okay. I paddled up to boneyards, and it was much better and less crowded. Towards the peak of high tide it became really inconsistent, but in general it was pretty fun. Waves were chest high plus. Water was chilly. Wore my 4/3 and hood. Board ridden: 5'11" Xanadu Pig 2.

3.3.13 - Boneyards

Paddled out at 6:30 am, solo. Tide was dropping to a 0.6' low at 7:31am. Conditions were clean, with no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.2' from 246° at 15s. Surf was not as good as I thought it was going to be. I think it was due to the low tide, and inconsistent swell. I only caught a couple of decent waves. Waves were chest high. Water was cold. Board ridden: 5'11" Xanadu Pig 2.

2.9.13 - Boneyards

Paddled out at around 3:00, with Chris M. and Joel S. Tide was just coming off of a -1.6 low at 2:50. Conditions were pretty clean, with little to no winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 6.4' from 247° at 11.5s. Conditions were surprisingly clean based upon the storm that had rolled through the night before. The peaks were shifting all around, and you basically had to wait until they were about to break right on you in order to be able to catch them. In general we had a decent session, minus the brief run in we had with these two guys who thought they owned the place. I think Chris had fun riding my 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish. Waves were head high with occasional pluses. Water was still chilly. I wore my 4/3 and booties. Board ridden: 5'11" Xanadu Pig 2.

12.23.12 - Swami's-Boneyards

Paddled out at 6:15am, solo. Tide was dropping off of a 5.7' high at 5:38am. Conditions were glassy, with sligh offshore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 4.7' from 284° at 14s. Conditions were similar to yesterday, but the tide was affecting it some, and the crowd at swami's was more as well. I caught about 3 waves before paddling up to Boneyards. I caught several waves there, but it could have used less tide. I caught one really long right, so I decided to head back over to swami's to catch one in. Waves were 5-7'. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 fullsuit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 3.9' from 274° at 12-14s. Surf was pretty mediocre. It was much mushier that it looked from the parking lot. I caught a couple of decent rights, and one pretty good left. Other than that not much to speak of. Waves were chest high. Water was warm in my 3/2 full suit. Board ridden: 5'10" KG Twinzer Fish.

11.22.12 - Boneyards (Thanksgiving)

Paddled out at 5:45, solo. Tide was a 5.05' high at 5:01am. Conditions were glassy, with off-shore winds. Torrey Pines Outer Buoy was reporting Significant Wave Height of 6.1' from 279° at 12-14s. Paddled out at Swami's but I knew it was going to get crowded fast, so I paddled over to the Boneyard. Waves were solid head high with occassional overhead sets rolling through. It was a little mushy due to the high tide, but fun nonetheless. Water was comfortable in my 3/2 full. Board ridden: 5'10 KG Twinzer.
